Carpenter Sketch

"Carpenter"

Drawing, pencil: Vincent van Gogh

I started BuildWell Carpentry in 2003 because I enjoy working with my hands and, at the end of a workday, I like to see tangible results. I specialize in highly customized projects requiring design sense, the ability to problem-solve, the use of premium tools and equipment, and refined carpentry skills. Some past projects include: a red oak sink vanity that houses a dishwasher and supports the original farm sink, complete reconstruction of a front porch that serves as the main entrance for a health food store (which required unimpeded traffic flow during business hours), and hiding electrical wires in an old stone house through the creation of scribed wooden "boxes".

For woodworking and custom cabinetry projects I prefer to use plentiful, local hardwoods such as walnut, cherry, and red or white oak. I purchase my materials directly from a nearby mill, thus eliminating costly shipping fees and damage to the environment, a savings that is passed on to my clients and our earth. I use handsome, quality materials that "wear well" such as solid brass and hand-forged iron hardware. Work done thoughtfully and well with quality materials is beautiful today and provides superior value through increased product life span. I put everything I have into living a rich and thoughtful life, and deliver to my clients projects and pieces of quality and beauty.
